RISK ASSESSMENT CHECK LIST
- Familiarise yourself with first aid base at the school or venue and ensure you have a first aid kit with you
- If you do not have a mobile phone, ensure that you are aware of the nearest phone in case of an emergency
- Use plasters on cuts only after checking the medical part of the child’s booking form. Clean up the wound first and use First Aid instructions
- If a child is injured, do not immediately get ‘very close’ to the child. Ask him/her if they are ok, if not, use First Aid instructions
- Do not leave yourself in a one-on-one situation with a child. Ensure there is another adult present or a group of children
- Do not use children’s toilets
- Remove all rubbish and/or dog faeces from playing areas
- Check playing area for holes, sticks, stones and other hazardous objects
- Bring your own lunch
- Do not go to the shop during courses unless asked to by the senior member of staff
- Senior member of staff may only ask an assistant to leave the course premises if there are two other staff members on site
- Ensure all children are wearing the appropriate clothing and training gear. A child must be wearing shin pads to participate in matches
- As-well-as the initial warm-up, encourage children to perform the occasional warm up or stretch themselves during sessions and/or matches
- Position yourself in areas where you can overlook the group you are working with
