The first of all I'd like to thank to Sav for a great work experience. It was one of the most interesting fortnights of my life.
There was a lot of fun with children who played soccer every day. They were really cute. I enjoyed his dog, Strauss, too. J

The last two weeks were a little bit strange for me. I spent time in London and I worked at "Skill 7" with Krystyna, (my classmate), Ricky, Robbie and Sav. The two weeks were strange because I worked with children …but in the Czech Republic I study secondary school of catering and services so it was very new to me. I had no experience in working with children or coaching let alone with coaching children! However it was really great!! Working with children is very interesting. I really enjoyed the 2 weeks and it was a very good experience for me. Sav showed me how to work with children and perhaps one day …I could do this job here, in the Czech Republic :)

Grace Otenio |
Monday 1st – Friday 12th November 2010
My name is Grace and I am currently at Westfield CTC 6th form studying Sport Science. To be able to complete one of the units I had to do a two week work based experience in the sport industry. From a young person I have always loved sport it was the only subject i was great at. That is why i decided to take sport as one of my subjects at 6th form. I am not greatest at football but football it has to be my top sport, I started playing at a young age and I still enjoy playing now.
For my two weeks work based experience I was given a chance to work at Skill 7 with Sav and his coaches (Ricky and Robbie). Skill 7 is a coaching business for kids aged 5 to 12, they do session during and after school their main sport is football but they also do sports such as hand ball, basketball, short tennis, quick cricket and team building exercises. I had the opportunity to go along with the Skill 7 coaches for school session at Central primary school, Parkgate, Bedmond, Bournehall primary etc. At these sessions I had the chance to put my coaching skills into action. My fist day, I did not expect to be coaching because at my previous placements, I was made to sit and watch the coaches do their job. But at Skill 7, I had the chance to create my own training session and deliver it to the kids. I was very nervous and exited at first and I was wondering if the kids would behave or even if I was able to control them but it went pretty well all the kids were lovely and well behaved, I was able to connect with them insistently, I was able to give instruction and they paid attention to every thing I said and I did not have to shout over them. I really enjoyed it, it allowed me to see how it feels and the personality that is needed to coach kids. Working with Sav was great, he didn't just leave us in the background, he always made sure that we was doing something and that we was learning at the same time, because he has been through the same situation, he knew how to deal with us and the best way for us to learn about the coaching industry. After every session I did Sav was observing me he always gave me feedback for example what I did well, what worked and what didn't and ways I can improve my session and make it mare fun for the kids. One of the points Sav made about me was the way I was teaching he said my I didn't look relaxed, the point he made was, when working with young children I needed to loosen up get down to their level, it will help me to connect with the kids better. I have learnt so much during my two weeks at Skill 7, it has really given me a chance to be creative and it as really opened my eyes to what I could do in the future.

Monday 1st – Friday 12th November 2010
I really liked working at Skill 7 it gave me a better understanding of what coaching is about and it has also given me influence to do coaching my self. I know more about the business and how it runs. Working with Sav, Ricky and Robbie was really fun and they gave you a better understanding of how to coach and how to be towards the children. The schools we went to were really good and the children are loads of fun to work with. The children at the schools were really easy to get along with. I also learnt about what they do when they take on other coaches more. I have a better understanding about the coaching badges and how they run and what you do. I would advise any one who is interested about coaching to defiantly come to Skill 7.

Monday 1st – Friday 12th November 2010
In the Two weeks which I done with Skill 7 I have learned a lot more about how the coaching industry works. When I first started I was a bit quiet and I didn't interact with the kids as much as I should of. As each day went past my confidence grew and I started to interact with the kids a lot more. Before I done this work experience I knew I wanted to do football coaching as I done it when I was youngster with Watford FC. I would love to work with Sav as it has been a great pleasure to work with him in the two weeks of coaching. Also Ricky and Robbie have taught me a lot about football coaching and what there job involves at Skill 7. I now no I defiantly want to become a full time football Coach when I finish school. Because of Sav I now know what my level one up to level three coaching badges are about. Sav has also taught me different ways when you coach kids. The first was how to control and interact with them and the other one was how to break down your Sessions when you coach. Also each day working with Sav he would usually give me feedback on what I would have done differently in the coaching session and that also helped me a lot as I knew what to do in my next coaching session.

After an unsure start to his placement Tom gradually became more confident and finished his two weeks on a high with a report and session plan of the very highest standard. Tom is also interested in a future in the coaching industry. If he keeps working on his confidence and improves his communicational skills there is no reason why he cannot carve out a career in coaching. A quiet but pleasant and hard working student.

Monday 5th July – Friday 9th July 2010
Working with Sav and everyone associated with Skill 7 was one hell of an experience, we had a good laugh, busy week but got a lot of work done. When I first stepped into Sav's house I knew immediately how hard he worked by just looking into his office and recognising how organised he was and it made me think, working for a football company isn’t just playing football or working with different kids there’s a lot more to it than that and that’s exactly what Sav showed me. My highlight of the week was the two birthday parties (Ethan Gold and the two boys on the last Saturday) great kids to work with, positive, talkative, polite and wanting to run around and get involved into the football and other sports. I had a really good week with Sav not just working along side him but away from work, visiting new places around the area and seeing new people that were very close to him, that really topped the week off! I had my ups and downs in the week with Sav (He knows what they are!) but that didn’t stop me from having a good week with all the boys. I would recommend to anyone to do work experience with Sav because if you’re looking to do sport it's a great experience and opportunity.
Thanks again to Sav, Ricky and Robbie for making me feel welcome.

Robyn Blanchard |
Monday 28th June – Friday 2nd July 2010
My initial feeling before the week were mainly nervous because I wasn’t sure what to expect. On my first day it started off with folding letters precisely and I soon found out that the people I was going to be working with were pleasant and humorous. Sav showed me the finance side of the business and the online accounts. On most days I had to warm up and cool down the children and before playing we need to clear the pitch of sticks and stones for health and safety reasons. Also as the week progressed I felt more confident with encouraging the children and after the first day I felt a lot less nervous as I knew a lot more about what each day was going to be like. On a couple of days we had to go to Sports Direct to get prizes and I didn’t expect to be doing that so often. The experience so far has opened my eyes up to all the different aspects of the business like the finance and not just the coaching. I want to say thank you very much for giving me this opportunity because I have enjoyed it lots and have learnt lots of new skills.

Monday 21st June – Friday 25th June 2010
I have been playing football with Sav since I was about 9, and as soon as I heard about work experience I went straight to him to organise it, as I knew it would be hard to get a placement as he always has people wanting to do work experience with him. The first sat was an 8 o’clock start and I was shown how to deal with the email system then we went to a school in the afternoon for the after school club. While I was with Skill 7 I found out that not only do they coach after school football sessions, they also take school p.e lessons introducing different and fun sports to the children, for example kick ball was on of the children's favourites. During the week I visited one of the schools where I used to go to one of the holiday courses and it reminded me of all the good times I had there. I also visited the elite squad which I used to attend it was great to see some old friends, but it was different to playing along side them, because I was coaching them instead! I would recommend doing work experience with Sav if you are enthusiastic in sport and want an enjoyable week. As I enjoyed every second of it, thanks Sav!

When I first got to Sav’s house I wasn’t really that nervous because he used to coach me when I was at Parkgate school, I didn’t do much coaching this week because it was the first week back from half term but what coaching I did do I enjoyed a lot.
